054 A very complete Stone Circle a short distance north west of Easter Aquhorthies. It consists of eleven upright stones between four and five feet high, and on the south side of the Circle of one in a horizontal position stretched between two of the upright ones. This stone is about 8 feet long, four feet high, and 2½ feet thick, and forms a Kind of altar. It has been remarked that no two of the stones are of the same material, and it is said that stone of the Kind of which the horizontal one is composed, cannot be got on Fetternear estate. In the Collections of the Shires of Aberdeen and Banff it is thus mentioned, " There is an Antient Druidical Temple in the Parish, but nothing very remarkable about it."
