TULLOCHBEG | Tullochbeg | Mr. Murdoch Tenant Alexander McAdam Ward Alexander Merson Burnend |
026 | A large Farm steading with garden attached, in good repair. The property of the Duke of Richmond. The name, which is of Galic origin, is supposed to mean Small hill; which is very probable, as the Farm steading is Situated on an eminence a short distance north east of the Glashmach Hill, in comparison with which it is small indeed. King James the Fifth is Said to have lodged a night at this Farm, in the year 1540, who, being in disguise was received as an ordinary foot traveller, or perhaps one of the lower class, and a Gaberlunzie of the more Sober and comparatively well dressed discription; As recorded in the Legends of Strathisla, Banffshire and Strathbogie. |
