There is an old gateway with the Three Boars Heads and the initials of IS and G.C. (The initials supposed to be George Calder and Isobella Seaton) on one of the buildings there is a stone that [h]as been used for repairing the building bearing date 1692. It was (the original building) supposed to have been built soon after the battle of Brechin by George Calder on the lands granted to him for services there.
