034 This name applies to what was once a very large Cairn. Local tradition records this as pointing out the grave of the Piper that fell, whilst engaged in a skirmish that was fought after the battle of Harlaw, in 1411.

034 About 25 chains south of the farm of Faichhill, may be seen the remains of this sepulchral mound, surrounded by a considerable quantity of small stones; when clearing this Tumulus away, it was found to contain a large mass of vitrified matter. It was chiefly composed of earth and small stones, and was about 10 Yards in diameter and upwards of 4 feet in height [Continued p. 114]
