STONE CELT FOUND HERE [Ochie Hill] | Site of Cairn Stone Celt found here | Mr. William Warrack, Factor, Fintray Mr. David Milne, Teacher, Fintray |
055 | A very large Cairn, destroyed a number of years ago, situated a short distance north of Cairnpark farmsteading. It consisted of an immense pile of stones about 20 feet high and 36 feet in diameter. Surrounding this was a wall-like circle of stones about 3 feet high, the whole containing 3'000 Cartloads of stones which have been used for drainage and the erection of stone walls. The only remains found near it was a Stone Axe which the farmer has lost, not considering it of any value. |
