Sculptured Stones of Scotland The stone above alluded to is a slab of granite, about 4 feet long and 2 feet wide, set into the western wall of the graveyard around the church. The The Runic characters generally termed the "elephant" and "spectacles" (from a resemblance in form) are chiselled on its surface, and establish its antiquity. |
