It was fought on 22nd May 1308 and from Barbours account however, and from other circumstances there is no reasonable doubt, that the scence of the Conflict was a level field lying immediately under the Hill of Barra, called at this day "The Bruce Field" which though now levelled by the plough, Contained until very lately a number of elliptical entrenchments.
