046 At or about this place a battle was fought on *the 25th December 1307, between King Robert Bruce, and Comyn Earl of Buchan; in which the latter's Army was entirely routed. Barbour in his account of the battle says it was fought 22nd May 1308.

046 When the former tenant of North Mains, about the year 1830, was improving & clearing a piece of land on his farm, he discovered a portion of a bronze celt, measuring about three inches in breadth: A Gold Bracelet, & other Trinkets were also found, supposed to have belonged to the followers of Bruce.
