066 | There were four places of worship in this parish when the Roman Catholic religion was the established religion of this country. All remains of two of them are gone. (New Stat Act. [Statistical Account].) Before the Reformation there was a Roman Catholic "Chappel at Boggs". (Collections on the Shires of Aberdeen & Banff) At one time a Farm House Called "Boggs" Stood near the Site of the Chapel, but it was taken down some years ago. There are no remains of the Chapel to be seen but the site is well known and the small Spring near it is well known as the "Chapel Well". There was a grave yard surrounding the Chapel which was dug up by a Tenant about 30 years ago, and the bones and rich Mould were put on the ground for Manure!! B. Render Corp. R.E.
