062 All that remains of this castle are a round tower and part of a wall on one side of the tower. It is quite uninhabitable. All enquiries have been made about the origins of this castle, but all that can be gleaned respecting it is, that it was built by a family of the name Calder. The Earl of Montrose it is supposed, slept in this castle on the night previous to the Battle of Alford. Mr Adams, the only Antiquarian in this parish, Knows notthing more about it than what is here stated. Property of Sir Charles Forbes Bart [Baronet]
