URNS CONTAINING ASHES FOUND HERE A.D. 1828 [Wester Newton] 092 Urns containing calcined bones were found in a field about five chains N.E. [North East] of this steading. The Statistical Account mentions that the ground where the Urns were found has a blackish appearance & small pieces of charcoal imbedded in it. The ground has been cultivated since the finding of the above so that no appearance of the original description can be seen on the ground.
