James Ogg Esq. Mr James Niel Mr James Middleton |
081 | This was once the Parish Church of Glentanner prior to its being amalgamated with Aboyne; its present remains consist of the Western gable, which has been recently repointed with lime to assist in its preservation, the remaining ground plan can be traced and shews it to have been a small building; the Grave Yard surrounding is still used; date of building unknown but previously to 1763 service was performed here. The New Stat [Statistical] Account says that from its "having been thatched with heather, it was known by the name of the Black Chapel of the Moor" but it is not known by this name now. |
