075 A very extensive linen Manufactory with all the necessary machinery etc houses, yards etc Some very fine and powerful Steam Engines are used for propelling the machinery required in preparing the material, through its different stages, such as Spinning Weaving etc etc and gives Employment to about one thousand Persons, regularly and the works are still increasing in extent. When the linen is Manufactured here a quantity of it is taken to the Bleachfield at Rubislaw where it is made ready for the market Here also are large Vitriol Works and is all carried on by the proprietors Richards & Co. [Company]
