075 This building was originally a Roman Catholic Chapel erected 1804, but becoming too confined for the Congregation a new Church was built in the west end of the town, Huntly Street, of Much larger dimensions which was opened in 1860. In 1862 the old Chapel and Chapel House were occupied by a Colony of Nuns from London who have since divided the Chapel into two parts, forming one into a large and commodious Home for the aged and Infirm poor of the Congregation, and retaining the other half still as a Chapel, the sisters occupy what was the Chapel house, they nurse the poor and aged and helpless Children under their Care gathering from Voluntary Contributions what is needed for the support of the poor and giving there own services Gratis. Their Chapel is open for the public on Sundays & weekdays and is well filled by the poor and sickly in the east end of the City.
