A Survey of SHOP TAX in the Royalty of Haddingtonfrom the 5th of April 1787 to the 5th April 1788 by William Johnstone Surveyor
I William Johnstone Surveyor aforesaid do hereby certify that upon careful examination I find
the foregoing duties amount to Three pounds three shillings four pence sterling and that upon the seventh
day of November 1787 I delivered to John Carpae Coll. [Collector] of said duties in the Royalty of Haddington
an exact Duplicate of the above accompt duly examined and compared which contained my oath
that the above Inhabitants were duly served with Notices of the date foresaid intimating that they
were to be charged with the several sums sett against their names. William Johnstone, Surveyor
