thock for one Year commenceing the twenty fifth day of March 1778 and end
ing the twenty fifth day of March 1779 by William Greig Surveyor
I William Greig Surveyor of aforesaid do hereby certify that upon carefull examination of the
foregoing rates and duties I find they amount in whole to two pounds two shillings sterling
And upon the [ ] day of [ ] 1780 I delivered to Mr Alexander Mudie Town Clerk
and Collector of the said duties for the Burgh aforesaid an exact duplicate of the above
Account (Conform to [ ] ) duly examined and Compared with
the foregoing which contained my oath that notices were left with the persons before
named or at their dwelling houses of the date annexed to their respective names requiring
them within fourteen days to give in a list of Servants retained or employed by
them for the year before mentioned And that the said Account or Survey was made

Montrose for one year from the 25th day of March 1778 to the
25th day of March 1779 by William Greig Surveyor
15 Servants for one year at one Guinea each is .........£15.15.0
I William Greig Surveyor aforesaid do hereby Certify that upon carefull examination of the forego-
-ing rates and duties, I find they amount In whole to Fifteen pounds Fifteen Shillings Sterling,
and that upon the 27th day of May 1780 I delivered to Mr. Alexander Stewart Collector of the
Said Duties for the Burgh aforesaid an exact Duplicate of the above Account Conform to his receipt
here unto fixed duly examined and compared with the foregoing which contained my Oath that
nottices were left with the Severall persons before named, or at their dwelling:houses of the dates
annexed to their respective names requiring them within the Space of fourteen days to give in a
list of the Servants retained or employed by them for the year before mentioned, And that the Said
Account or Survey was made out from the lists returned to me, and from the best information I
could procure of the Servants of those, who neglected or refused to return a list of their Servants in
terms of the nottices left with them as aforesaid
