Att Dumfries the Eleventh day of December in the year One thousand seven hundred and Seventy one
Compeared William mein Collector of the Land tax for the Shire of Dumfries comprehending the Stewartry of Annandale now abolished and five Kirks of Eskdale and John Goldie of Craigmuie Clerk to the Commissioners of the Land tax for the said shire comprehending as aforesaid and Keeper of the valuation Book of the same and of the records of the sd. [said] Commissioners who being solemnly sworn Make oath that they have with great pains compared the Valuation Book of the sd. [said] shire with the reciept Books kept by the Collectors of the Land tax for the sd. [said] shire and Records of the foresd. [foresaid] Commissioners and that what is written upon this and the fifty three preceeding pages contains a true and full account of the valued rent of the whole Lands within the said shire and how the same is uplifted
And that after due comparison what is contained in this Book contains to a Trifle what is in the Valuation Book made up and rectified in the year One thousand six hundred and Seventy one except as to the Article of Westerkirk parish which in the said rectified valuation Book id made to extend to Twenty one thousand one hundred and Sixty merks, six shills [Shillings] and eight pennies. Whereas the Summa of that parish is really no more than Twenty one thousand and eighty five merks six shills [Shillings] and eight pennies
And all this is truth as they shall answer to God.
