Additional Duty on CARRIAGE AND SADDLE HORSE TAX, per 37 Geo. [George] III. Cap. 134.
in the County of Dumfries from 5. July 1797 to 5 April
1798 by William Laidlaw Surveyor
Genl [General] Ross being charged a horse in
former Survey this one must be £0.7.6
I William Laidlaw Surveyor Aforesaid Certify that on Careful exami
-nation I find the foregoing Duty amounts to the Sum of four
Shillings and Sixpence Sterling and that I delivered to Wellwood
Maxwell Esqr Collector of said Duties an exact Duplicate
hereof which contained an oath that the person above named
was duly served with a Requisition and is charged agreeable to
his Return or according to my knowledge & belief that he
was liable in said Duty William Laidlaw
