Carriage and Horse Tax.
I Robert Maughan Assistant Surveyor Aforesaid do hereby
Certify that upon Careful Examination of the Forgoing
Rates & Duties I find they Amount in the whole to
Two Hundred and Eight Pounds Ten Shillings Sterling (R.M.) and that on
the Twentyth Day of Decr. [December] Seventeen Hundred and
Eight years I delivered to Mr George McQueen Collector
of said Duties for the City of Edinr [Edinburgh] an Exact [duplicate]
of the Foregoing Accompt Duly examined & [compared]
which Contained my Oath that Notices or [Requisitions]
were left with the Several Inhabitants or [at their]
Dwelling houses of the Dates annexed to [their]
respective Names Robert Maughan
