Survey of the Carriage & Sadle horse Tax in the Burgh of Selkirk
From the 10th of Oct [October] 1785 to the 6th of April 1786 By
William Brunton Surveyor
11 horses at 5/ [£0.5.0] each for 1/2 year is £2.15.0 Stg. [Sterling]
I William Brunton Surveyor of aforesaid do hereby
Certify that upon careful Examination of the foregoing
several rates and duties, I find they amount in whole to
£2.15.0 Stg. [Sterling] and that upon the 18 of March I sent by Post
to A. Brown Collector of the said duties for the Burgh aforesaid
an Exact duplicate of the above Acct [Account] duly examined and
compared with the foregoing, And I do make Oath that
the above is a just list returned by the several Inhabitants
when requisitions were made of the several dates
