Hearth tax transcription

Edinburgh 26th Febry [February] 1694
In presence of the Earle of Linlithgow one of the Lords Comissioners [Commissioners] of their Maties [Majesties] Thery [Thesaury] Compeared James Campbell of [Hirinoch] Sub Collector of the Hearth Money, wthn [within] the presbytries if Dumblane and auchterardor, paroches of Culross & Tulliallan Who being Sworn & examined declared, That the forsaid List of hearths, Extending to Eight thousand three hundred and Sixty Fyve Which are payed and seventein which are unpayed, Is ane true and just List of all the hearths within the forsd [forsaid] presbytries and parochines, to the best of his knowledge Excepting Six hundred & Forty five belonging to poor people and that he hes used his utmost endavoures, Conform to the proclamations of Councell, anent the Ingathering of the Hearth Money, to attain to the knowledge of all the forsd [forsaid] hearths and that he hes not wittingly nor willingly concealed any bot given up the samen truely as said is. And this is the truth as he shall answer to God. And alse ecepting some small poynds given back to very poor people (who were not exeemed by Law, not exceeding Ten hearths)
