I Mr William Archibald wryter in Edinr [Edinburgh] SubCollector of the hearth money within the parochines of South and North leith Cannongate parochines of West Kirk and Towne of Edinr [Edinburgh] without the Walls Doe be this puts declare That the number of hearths Containt in the pages within wryten extending the Sds [Saids] pages To ane hundred and thirty ane in number are Sett downe after Survey made be me The Said Mr William Archbald and John Stewart and William henderson wryters in Edinr [Edinburgh] my Servts [Servants] waged for that effect and that the Saids Servts [Servants] (with what I did surveyd at first my Self) did Survey the haill within wtne [writtene] bounds except Some Mansione houses and wasts mentioned in the within wtne [writtene] pages To qch [quhich] wee hade not access be reasone of Seall [Severall] persons being abSent And that the number of hearths allready Surveyed amount To Seven Thousand foure hundred and Seventy Two or thrby [thereby] And To the best of all our knowledge The accompts of payt [payment] as they are marked are True and Just And wee declare That none of ws have Concealled any hearths within the haill within wtne [writtene] bounds Ir anent viz The Concealling of any of the Saids hearths Wee all are Content To make faith when So ever The Honoll [Honourable] Lord for Their Maties [Majesties] privy Councill Shall appoynt Soe To doe or before The honoll [honourable] Lords of The committee
