Att Edinburgh the 2d day of March Jaj vi cts Nyntie Four years [2 Mar 1694]

In Presence of the Earle of Linlithgow Compaired Thomas Fairfoule subCollector of the Hearth money within the Presbitires off Kirkcaldie Cowpar and St Andrewes who being sworne and examined Declaired that the forsaid Lists of Hearthes Extending to Fyftein Thousand Three Hundered and sevinty sex which are payed And Two Hundered Tuentie Fyve by ocular Inspectione by himself wtin [within] the Town of St Androws Which are unpayed besyds those that are marked at the end of every paroch Is a true and Just List of all the hearths of the forsd [forsaid] three presbitries To the best of his knowledge (Excepting Fyve Hundered Fourtein Hearths of poor exemed by Law) And that he hes used his outmost endeavor Conform to the proclamationes of Councell anent the Ingathering of the Hearth money to attain to the knowleidge of all the Hearths of the saids Presbitries And that he hes not willingly not wittingly concealed any But given up the samen as sd [said] is And this is the truth as He shall ansr [answer] to God
