Edinburgh 12th January 1788 [12 Jan 1788]
I John Taitt Surveyor aforesaid, do hereby Certify that upon carefull
examination of the foregoing several Rates and Duties I find they
amount in whole, to Three Hundred and Ten pounds Sterling
that upon this twelfth day of January instant [12 Jan 1788] I delivered to
George Cranston Collector of the Cess for said County, or his Deputy
the Cess Office Edinburgh, an exact duplicate of the above Account
duly examined and compared with the foregoing, in which I
Certified, that Requisitions of Charges were left with the Several
Inhabitants, or at their dwelling Houses, of the dates annexed
and that they are Charged with the Rates and Duties, set against
their several names, conform to Returns made by themselves
or by second Requisitions and Charges left where the first
were deficient
