Survey of the FEMALE-SERVANTS TAX. arisen within the
Town of Forres from the 5th day of July 1785 To the 5th day of Aprile 1786 By Archibald Duff Surveyor

27 Servants at 2/6 [£0.2.6] each per year for 3 Quarters is £2.10.7½
14 Servants at 5/ [£0.5.0] each per year for 3 Quarters is £2.12.6

I Archibald Duff Surveyor aforesaid do hereby certify that upon careful exam=
ination of the foregoing several rates and duties I find they amount in whole
to five pounds three shillings and one penny halfpenny Sterling and that upon the
Eighteenth day of March Current I delivered to Mr Humphrey Grant Collr. [Collector] of the
said duties for the Town of Forres aforesaid on Exact Duplicate of the above Acct. [Account]
duly examined and compaired with the foregoing which contained my oath that
Notices were left with the Severall Inhabitants or at their dwelling
houses of the dates annexed to their respective names In order that they might
make a report of the greatest number of female Servants retained and em=
ployed by them for the period therein mentioned, which they did in Substance
as above.
