WHEEL CARRIAGE TAX
In the Royalty of the Burgh of Lauder from 5 July 1785 to Apr. [April] 1786

I William Hogg Surveyor of Taxes Do Certify that the Above Account
of Duty Arising in the Royalty of Lauder is duly Compared &
Amounts to Ten Pounds Ten Shillings Sterling. And that upon the
10 January 1785 I delivered to Mr. Robert Romanes Collector of said
Dutys an Exact Duplicate of the Above & which Contained my Oath
that Mr William Nicol was Served with a Requisition of the above date
& that he is Charged from the Answer he gave me
