the ground level of the interior and 3' above that
on the outside. The entrance has been from
the S. [South].

Burg Langwell (12)
On the S. [South] side of the Langwell water, about
1/2 m. [mile] due S. [South] of the gamekeepers' house and
at the upper end of a small glen, are the
remains of the broch known as Burg Lang:
:well. Some recent excavation has been
done on the structure and a gallery 2'.8" in width has
been exposed on the S. [South] which probably
contains the stair and on the W. [West] for a
short distance a portion of a chamber has
been opened up through a break in the
outer wall at one end. The diameter
over all of the broch is some 48' and
the thickness of the wall where exposed
above the gallery 10'. The
wall on the exterior is reduced almost to the
foundation.

"Pict Ho. [House]" Langwell (53)
On the S. [South] side of the Langwell water about
1/2 m. [mile] s. [south] of the gamekeepers' house and at the upper edge of the riverbank on
the W. [West] side of the ravine some 200 yds. [yards] NW [North West]
from the ruins of Burg Langwell, are
the remains of a "Picts House". It is
formed with two distinct enclosures.
On the N. [North] is an oval or pear shaped
