054 Two large tumuli or Cairns situated on the south side of Kinrive Hill. "On the same property (Kindeace) there is a large Cairn of Stones, the tradition in regard to which is that in a great battle fought there, a King was Killed, and his head struck off, And buried under this Cairn. The hill is now Called Kinrive, a corruption from the Gaelic of Ceann Righ, or King's head, and the foundation of a large Castle or building can yet be traced close to the Cairn" Extract from New Statistical Account

054 A considerable stream rising westward in Loch na Clach and flowing eastward through the parish. Close to the main road near Torran farm, the course of the stream has been diverted, the greater portion of the water running past Dorrachan and Kindeace and is Known as the Burn of Kindeace. The original channel runs eastward past Culnacoyle and empties its water into Balnagown River opposite Dalnaclerach.
