CASTLE (Remains of) [New Tarbat] Castle (Remains of) (continued) [continued from page 41] The remains mentioned on the other side are still extant and consist in a Keep or dungeon, which is quite complete and to which there is ingress by a small aperture 2 1/2 feet square. The name given to it in the Statistical Account is never applied to it now, the common one "Castle" being its only designation.
COPPER COIN OF THE REIGN OF JAMES III FOUND HERE A.D. 1868 [Tarbat House] A Copper Coin of the reign of James the third was found here 1868. 054 A Copper Coin, Reign of James Third was dug up near the site of the "Castle" in 1868. A tree within an enclosure marks the spot where it was found.
