015 The name applies to a high Point of Land. On which there is a Trigl. [Trigonometrical] Station . Called by Trig [Trigonometrical] Party "Light of Maize" On the S.W. [South West] Side of this Point, facing the Sea, is a Steep precipice, This Point of Land is very remarkable at Sea, and is well Known to Sailors. Tradition Seems to Say that at the time of the Smugglingin this Country. that there was a light placed on that point, to decoy vessels (in the night) to the Shore adjacent to the point above mentioned. that the night be Wrecked. it is on the law Called Knock and Maize

[High Water Mark] it extends only a few yards into the Rock, It is nearly of an oval Shape in the inside, and is wide enough to Contain Several persons together.It opens towards the Sea. It lies between Bear Holm & the Dove Cave And is on the farm of Portsloggan .
