A middling sized village composed of houses one and two stories high, all in good repair; with gardens attached. There is a Free Church, a parish school and a subscription school. The village is feued from the Earl of Buchan. There are 2 bakers, 6 grocers, 3 smithies, 3 wright shops, and 3 public houses. The inhabitants are composed of agricultural laborers, shoemakers, tailors, etc.
