027 This Burn rises between "Holehead" & "Hart Hill" and flows to the "Kirk Burn". The name is well known. "Alvain" "Almeel", and "Aldessan Burns" are the principal streams in the north west of the Parish as tributaries of the "Fin Glen" Stream or Burn, and the "Kirk Burn" The fall of the hills to this Burn, particularly near its junction with "Kirk Burn" forms a a steep Glen which, however, bears no name.

027 A Shepherd's house on the Farm of Knowehead and Estate of Ballencleroch or Kirkton. It stands near the brow of the range of the "Campsie Fells" which here fall to the Kirk Burn. D. Ferguson is the occupier.

027 A hill between Aldessan and Alvain Burns, falling to and forming after the course of these streams. The top, as shewn on Trace by a yellow shade, is well defined for a hill feature. It rises gradually from the south at Allanhead and may be said to descend on the north side to about the heads of Aldessan & Alvain Burns. The distinction "Inner" may, upon the authorities quoted, either
