This name is given to the remains of an old castle which once stood on the crest of a hill now known as ormond hill. There is very little now left of the building to tell or judge what sort of place it may have been as there are none of its walls more than a few inches in height. These can be distinctly traced, what appears to have been a massive wall or curtain surrounding the building on three sides, and there are also to be seen the remains of what evidently has been five square towers which stood on the outer wall and on the eastern side of the building there are two deep trenches continued [on page 66] |

There is no person in the locality who knows at what time this castle was erected neither is it known about what time demolished or by whom Mr Fletcher Rosehaugh propret. [proprietor]. |
