130 This name applies to that portion of the shore of the Lake immediately at the Inn and Ph. [Parish] Church. It was here where the monks had their landing place from the Priory, so says Dr. [Doctor] Turner
"The principal of the landing places of the Priory of Inchmahome and of Talla, a seat of the Earls of Menteith, was naturally called, by eminence, "Port," a word of the same meaning in Gaelic as in English, and, when a church was built here, it gave its name to the parish."
