124 | A small Lake partly on the lands of Letter and partly on Lennieston, near the west side of it is a Small island, and on the west end of it is a heap of stones grown over with nettles &c. Mr Weir Land steward of Rednock, and Robert Johnston of Cassafuir say that this is traditionally said to be the ruins of a house or Castle, which had belonged to Sir John Monteith, the betrayer of Wallace.
