[North West] of Traquair House A quarry of grey clay Slate apparently of very coarse description & not calculated to stand exposure to the weather for any lengthy period. The dip of the Strata is about an angle of 75 degrees. In one portion of this quarry, some well defined fossil remains, peculiar to this formation have been found. The quarry is wrought for the benefit of the tenants of the Earl of Traquair. |
