A small Loch situated on the farm of Upper Kirkland in which are Roach, trout & eels, though not plentiful, there is one stream that issues from it and which is served with springs within the loch it is mostly covered in its course The water has a very black appearance which is supposed to give rise to the name. "Black Loch"
