Revd. [Reverend] William Merson James Inglis Esq. Mr. J. Webster Mr. J. Bowman |
020 | [situation] E [East] side of the village of Crail. To the north of the Priory, and by the Sea Side is this spring well. Whether it derived its name from being used by the inmates of the Priory or from its proximity to the priory is doubtful. Its water is the best in or near Crail. Its other name of "Briery Well" is obviously a corruption of Priory Well. |
