This farmhouse and Steading is on the NE [Northeast] base of Arlick Hill and is the property of Mr David Burt, now occupied by Mr. John Steward. It is named from the circumstance of its low situation. the houses described as the Plains on the other side are of old standing and not distinguished as the upper or High Plains.

A hill forming part of the Ochil Range between Low Plains and West Blair on the summit of which is a Standing Stone set up by the late proprietor about 20 years ago, the surface of the hill is heathy, rough pasture interspersed with whins & rocks.
