The principal buildings are the Free Church School, and Preaching Station. The inhabitants are composed of Spinners, weavers, agricultural laborers, etc. There are 5 grocers shops two public houses, two smiths shops and one wrights shop in the village. The population is about 700. The greater part of the villages is feued from Maitland Makgill Chrichton Esqr. of Rankeilour, the rest belongs to a number of small proprietors. |
