036 [Situation] About 42 Chains S. [South] of Stenhouse.
Two spaces on the pasture land near the South Eastern foot of Dunearn Hill - they are very small, the Eastern one has no embankments on the north or South but seems to have been sunk, on the West side there is a Slight Embankment, and on the East side outside of a slight Embankment there is the remains of a small Trench.
The western Spaces appears to be imperfect, it is composed of four parallel ridges of mixed Soil and loose stones, each ridge about a foot high and extending nearly North and South. It is not probable that these places were used for any purpose but that of Shelter for they are in a bad position for defence. Messrs Young, Walls, Kay and Blackwood know then by the name of Roman Camps. these men received the name from old laborers now dead, who worked on the farm, there are no remains known to have been found in, or about them, and there is no place known on, or in the neighbourhood of Dunearn Hill by the name of Agricola's Camp at the present time.

Note: The spaces here alluded to are perfectly trivial and I do not consider them antiquities, more probably some Slight grumbling of the earth. J Bayly Capt.R.E. [Captain Royal Engineers]
