A small glen or Valley thro' [through] which a stream flows which falls into Long Crib Burn. I cannot obtain any information about the derivation of the word. Yearn: it is always Called so, - and not Earn.

A stream which gathers in the Slack between Long Crib Rig & Wester Dod and flows southwards along the east base of Long Crib Rig recg [receiving] the Water of Yearn Gill, thence to its Junction with Back Burn where it is called Crib Burn, to where it falls into Monynut Water.
SHORT CRIB BURN Short Crib Burn David Denholm

A Small Stream which rises in the Slack between Heart Law and Short Crib Gill & flows in a S.W. [South West] direction along the S. [South] base of the latter to its union with Crib Burn.
