016 A middling sized ridge of heathy moorland, on the farm of Crichness. On Co. [County] Map this ridge is designated "Kist Hill" The name Kist Hill is not Known in the country.
On the above ridge is the remains of an ancient Cairn, known by the name Witches Cairn.

016 A small spring, situate in a mossy piece of ground on the farm of Crichness, a few years ago there was a well here which the farmer of the place has now filled up. The above Well was once held in repute for the cure of scurvy, but has long since been disused for that purpose, In Stat, Acct. [Statistical Account] this well is descrbed as being near Bothwell, & called "Kist Hill Well". The name Kist Hill Well is not now Known in the country.
