017 | A large modern building mixed up with an old building supposed to have been of the twelfth century it stands on a slight eminence and is surrounded by beautiful woods and ornamental grounds. There is a stone with armorial bearings and the date 1578 on it, built in a terrace wall, on the south side of and about 60 links from the castle, see Trace 1, Plan 17-5. It is the property of the Dowager Duchess of Argyll. |
