Back Burn John Porteous Springwells, farmer John Paterson Sen [Senior] Williamson Cottage John Paterson Jun [Junior] Williamson Cottage A small stream, having its source in Hazelbank Plantation, runs southward past Goodhope farmsteading, soon after which it is called Black Burn, after running through Blackburn and Greenbeck farms it changes its direction, and runs Eastward, until it joins the River Annan. [All of the preceding paragraph has been crossed out.]

Black Burn Black Burn Black Burn Black Burn See Page 125, Situation From Hazelbank Plantation, S. [South] to Archwood Lake. A small stream having its rise in amoss at Hazelbank Plantation; where its water has a black and dark appearance, It runs in a Southward direction through this Plan. And after this it is named from the different farms through which it runs, and falls into the River Annan.
