The New Statistical Account states - "Near the north-east corner of the wood of Whyntie is an artificial mound, Known by the name of The Gallows Cairn, on which tradition of course, tistifies [testifies] that many suffered by the righteous, or capricious decree of their feudal lord." Near the "North-east" corner, seems to be a mistaKe - for position see Plan 4-10. |
