A Survey of the Rates and Duties on Male Servants Arisen in the Burgh of Montrose for one year commenceing
the fifth day of April 1786, and ending the fifth day of April 1787 by William Greig Surveyor

22 Single Male Servants of 1&2 Married persons for One year as above..........@25/s [shillings] [£1.5.0] each is £27.10.0

I William Greig Surveyor aforesaid do hereby certify that upon carefull examination of the foregoing duties I
find they amount in whole to Twenty Seven Pounds & Ten Shillings Sterling and that upon the .......day of March I
delivered to Mr Alexander Morrison Collector of the said duties for the Burgh aforesaid an exact duplicate of the above Accounts
as will appear from...........duly examined and compaired with the foregoing, which contained my Oath that
nottices were left with the Several persons before named or at their dwelling Houses of the dates annexed Names
requiring them within fourteen days to give in a list of their Servants retained or employed by them from
the 5 day of April 1785 to the 5th April 1786, and that the said account or Survey is made out from the lists
returned to me, and from the best information I could procure of the servants of those who neglected or refused to
give in a list thereof in terms of the nottices left with them as aforesaid
