On the W. [West] at the edge of the hillock there is
exposed a small portion of wall about 4' in
height which suggests a broch but there are
no other indications of such a structure
and it is possible the outer wall of a
galleried dwelling.

Ballachly. Site (2)
At Ballachly is the site of a chapel.
From the haugh land near the river there
rises a ridge some 80 to 100 yds. [yards] in length
and from the side of it towards the river
there runs a wall 5' thick & still some 8' to
10' high. Along the level to the base of the
ridge at the W. [West] are the ruins of a similar
massive wall. These walls look like the
walls of a cloister garth. I must make
further enquiry!

Broch Knockinnon. (92)
On the W. [West] side of the high road to Wick
about 4 m. [miles] N. [North] of Dunbeath a grassy
mound marks the ruins of a broch.
The conical mound has
a diameter at base of 67' and an eleva:
:tion of 12' to 13'. On the N. [North] side some
12' distant from the supposed base of
the tower is a portion of an en:
:circling wall or bank some 6' in elevation
on the inner side and 10' on the outer face.
