ridges running N & S. [North & South] between the two lochs.

Fort. Loch Watenan
At the extreme N. [North] end of the ridge of rock
that runs parallel to Loch Watenan on its
W. [West] side is a small fort. On the crest of
the ridge a circular area with a diameter
of some 27' is enclosed by a wall some
12' in thickness, now entirely covered by peat
and vegetation. It greatest elevation above
the interior is 3' - 4'. The entrance to this
area is not quite apparent but was probably from
the SE [South East]. This enclosure is further defended
by a stony rampart or wall from 12' to 18'
in thickness forming an oval around it
30' distant at the N. [North] end and about 14' at
the S. [South] close on the W. [West] flank and some 20'
distant on the E. [East]. From the E [East] end of the
N. [North] front a bank or wall apparently con:

At the N. [North] extremity the outer wall presents
a scarp about 10' in height with a
shallow ditch some 10' in width at the base of it.
On the S. [South] this wall is less prominent and
its outer & inner face being exposed show
that at this end it had a thickness of
12'. The ditch is visible at this end also.
The sides of the ridge are steep. The dimensions
