Langwell. Turning up the Langwell valley
we stopped at the keeper's house.

Earth-house Langwell. (52)
Some 200 yds [yards] W. [West] of the head gamekeeper's
house at Langwell within the wood and
close to the park railings is an earth
-house. Access is got to it through a
hole in the roof towards its inner end
the portion towards the entrance being
unopened. At the aperture is it 5'.3" in
width. It extends inwards for a distance
of 10'.6", expands to 6' at greatest width and
its greatest height above the debris that
covers the floor is 4'.7". The sides are built
of boulders, the end is rounded and
the roof formed of flags. One of these
flags crossing the gallery at its broadest
part is over 6'.2" in length and is 4'.2" in
width. Near the opening an upright stone
set in the floor 2' from the N [North] wall forms a pillar for support
of the flag above it. This pillar may, however,
not be original.

"Picts House" Longmore Ridge.
At the Eastern end of Wagmore Rigg
& some 3/4 m. [mile] due W. [West] of the houses at
Wag occupying the summit of a slight
elevation are the ruins of a circular habitation.
